I once had a discussion about XSLT, we ended up agreeing that it was "deliberately accidentally Turing complete".
I like XSLT for a lot of the more stylesheety things it does (but why oh why oh why did XSLT 1 not include a URLEncode function? I mean WTF???), but programming in it is a pain. I wrote a function once to convert 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 etc. to *, †, ‡, **, ††, ‡‡, *** etc. - not fun...
