So at some point I'm going to need a stunt DNS server as part of my 1337 email forgery protection scheme. I don't really want to have to implement the DNS side of things myself.

I'm currently thinking of writing a backend module for PowerDNS which has the kind of nameserver architecture I want. Has anyone used it? Any opinions?

One of their earlier versions had endianness bugs, which didn't inspire me with confidence. It's portable code, tested on >1 flavours of linux.
